  1. Sure - I see that value (esp if we can get a referral fee from the utilities aggregation (can't remember its name atm) website), but the problems still stand - i.e. people not knowing their dates and the main one: not guaranteed that'll they'll expire during the trial... it's a small window.

We could build a "starter" page that guides the user through adding a few obvious things like utilites, mobile, internet - but it would have to be very skippable, and totally optional... one of the golden rules online is don't get in the way of a user's primary objective.

  2. Cool - we're on the same page. It's in progress.

  3. I'm not so sure about this. I don't know if it's a good idea to force a use to enter an item that they may not have the documentation for - or it can't be access easily. I have abs no idea what my utilities/mobile contracts length are, or when I started them, and I sure as hell don't want to call the companies up to find out.

Also, there is a fairly high chance that either/both of the contracts don't expire in 6 months, which defeats the purpose of asking them.. it's gotta 100%. That's why I think the dummy item idea works. Or the "Niggle It free trial" item, but that's not very sexy, and might even confuse users since it's not a "product" per se - they're expecting the trial period reminder from us anyway, so they might not understand what we are trying to do.

  4. Are you referring to the frontend for this? I'll def be storing the activity in the backend for us to use, but hadn't considered displaying it for the user. Not sure there's any need. KISS.

  5. A database of manufacturers is still required for predictive text. You need a list of names in order for the predictive text to pick from.

  6. Yes, but why HOVER help in particular? Is there something you don't like with the existing format? Hovering requires the user DO something to see the help, which isn't always the best option.

  7. Do you want the whole column removed? I'm in too minds about it... some people might like to know how old something is... but other probably only care about the expiry...

  8. What are you thinking specifically here?
Maybe something like the top 5 "about to expire" items, and a sexier button to "View your Niggles".
